Situated in the picturesque Constantia valley bordering Plumstead just off the M3, we boast a developing and accessible campus. Being learner centered, our attractive campus regularly accommodates athletics, rugby, soccer, cricket and hockey matches. The school has three tennis courts and a swimming pool built to olympic specifications.
Having being Identified as an well managed academic institution with growth potential, our new “West Campus” will be opening on the 3rd of September 2011. Sharing the grounds ”Monterey pre-primary” has its own secure designated area within our campus.
With over 80 desktop computers learners and staff have permanent access to personal mail and the Internet. The school community share a database where all curricular and extra mural information is stored. The facility is managed by a qualified IT technician, an IT teacher and a center manager. The International Computer Drivers License (ICDL) is the subject offered from Gr. 9 to Gr. 12. Computer literacy lessons are demonstrated on screen for learners to follow and apply on computer. Learners pay an annual fee to make use of these facilities out of class time.
Library
The school library is at the forefront of transforming the teaching and learning process. Books, multimedia and technology are used to enhance the curriculum and to serve the diverse interests of both staff and learners.
The school librarian and teaching staff collaborate to ensure that lesson material is constantly updated and streamlined for teaching purposes. Learners in Grade 8 receive lessons in research skills to prepare them for assignments and research projects. The library skills and reading program is in keeping with international information literacy standards.
The library is a popular venue for workshops and school related functions, we annually host the inter-house “battle of the books” event as well as run the “Readathon” fundraiser promoting reading in all grades.
We have a dedicated team of learner librarians led by Mr. Dirksen; Mrs. Amansure and Ms. Lawrence who also currently serve on the school library committee.
