I am proud of the Matrics

Matric 40 Days’ went superbly on Friday! I told them [for the first time in 5 years] how proud I was of their Assembly – polished to perfection. Daniel was his awesome self, Dayaan gave us a thrill a minute [both Daniel and Dayaan were hysterical in imitating me and Mr Van Wyk respectively] and the Matrics were simply FABULOUS!  I always say one can school a child but it takes a special ingredient to educate!!! Not a single incident of a malevolent nature speaks volumes about the Matrics’ character – a sign perhaps that they are peaking at the right time!

The strike goes on. I will be in Kayelitsha tomorrow in solidarity with our NAPTOSA members there. On Thursday it’s the march. Hope it is as peaceful as the last one. It is deplorable how certain teachers from other unions break the law and compromise those teachers who wish to continue teaching. Speak about a DEMOCRACY!  Pupils need role models.  Only three of our teachers decided to go on strike. I respect the teachers who strike as much as I respect those who decide not to strike. A soldier fights for a nation!

I wish the matrics the very best of God’s richest graces during the prelims. I sincerely hope that they focus on their studies and pass well.
