It is a subject that includes two disciplines- Biology and Physics. Four themes are covered throughout the year including, Life and Living, Matter and Materials, Energy and Change and finally Plant Earth and Beyond. These themes provide a foretaste of what to expect in FET. It also gives learners an opportunity to make an informed decision regarding subject choices. Learners are exposed to a host of practical work to develop their scientific skills. In Grade 8 they do lab skills, microscope work, carry out mini-experiments and build models. In Grade 9 they get to show their understanding of the Scientific Method by presenting a group research project in our annual Science Fair. The teachers in the department strive to keep up to date with advances in this subject and therefore uses any available opportunity to make use of technology in the classroom.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
